I PETER 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
HEBREWS 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
HEBREWS 12:7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? HEBREWS 12:8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
JAMES 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
JAMES 1:3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
JAMES 1:4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
I CORINTHIANS 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
“Then, when a man is born again, from Heaven, he becomes a spirit babe in Christ. And, then, when this robe of flesh is dropped, there is a natural body, theophany, a body not made with hands, neither born of a woman, that we go to. Then that body returns back and picks up the glorified body. That's the reason Jesus went to hell when He died, and preached to the souls that were in prison; turned back into that theophany. Oh, marvelous! Thank God! II Corinthians 5:1, "If this earthly body be dissolved, this earthly tabernacle, we have another one." See, we have by-passed that, to come straight from God, the attribute; to be flesh, to be tempted and tested by sin, like Adam did. But when testing of His Word is over, then we are taken up to this body that was prepared for us before the foundation of the world. It is the Word there that we skipped, to come right around, down here to be tempted and tested. If we'd have come through that, there'd have been no temptation; we'd a-knowed all things. That's the reason Jesus knowed all things, 'cause He was Word before He was flesh. Then we become the Word. Here we are formed to the Word image, to be a partaker of the Word, feed on the Word, by being predestinated since the beginning; you see that little spark of Life that you had in you from the beginning, when you started your journey. Many of you can remember it. You joined this church and joined that church, you'd try this and that; nothing satisfied. That's right. But one day you just recognized It. Right.” [65-0221e Who Is This Melchisedec, Jeffersonville IN], [I Peter 3:19], [Acts 2:37-38], Corinthians 5:1], [II Peter 2:4]
“And notice what our Lord said. "All that live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution." Every son that cometh to God must first be tried, chastened, child-trained. No exceptions, every son that cometh to God must be tried. And if we cannot stand the chastisement, then the Scripture says we become illegitimate children and not the children of God. And isn't it a grand feeling to know that God's grace has carried some of you here through twenty and thirty years of trials and persecutions. God did that for you: shows that you're a real child of God. And He has taken you into His fellowship. Someday in the face of all that has criticized you, you'll be glorified and made a body like unto His own glorious body at His coming. We wait for that blessed hope.” [58-0529 Jesus At The Door, New Haven CT], [II Timothy 3:12]
“Sometimes, believers put to the test. Not sometimes; every time! "For every son that cometh to God must be chastened, tried, child-trained." Remember, the trials, the dusty roads, the hot sun of persecution, but the loyalty of your heart beats that material till she is ready to go into the mold. God's children is made up correctly on His Word, for they are living examples, and the Word of God living through them. See? The trial comes to shake you, to put you to the very bottom, to see where you'll stand. They tested, try every son that cometh to God. Job went through the trials and the tests. His children taken; everything else taken. The church members come, accused him of being a secret sinner, and tried to say everything against him, but yet he wouldn't listen to any of it. He knowed he had met God's requirements. He knowed there's no need of Satan trying to tempt him. He knowed it was the devil. And as long as Satan can make him believe that his sickness was his God doing it, he had Job whipped. But when Job once struck that revelation, that it was not God! He was only going through his trials to make him something. It wasn't God doing it. It was Satan doing it.” [63-1124E Three Kinds Of Believers, Jeffersonville IN]. [Deuteronomy 8:5], [Proverbs 3:11], [James 5:11]
“Time tested, the Christian must be tested; every son that cometh to God must be, first, child trained, tested. When you go to build a building, you test the material that you put in it. When the great dam was built around Jeffersonville, for the flood, they tested every ounce of dirt that went in the dam to see if it would stand the waters. And God tests His children with trials and troubles and tribulations, to find out if they are truly His children. The Bible said, "if we can't stand chastisement, then we're illegitimate children, and not the children of God." Notice now. Then, when the testing time come, and they could stand the test... I love that old song the people used to sing: Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come; It was grace that brought me safe thus far, And grace will take me on.” [58-0301E Hear Ye Him, Chattanooga TN], [Matthew 17:1-5], [James 1:2-3, 12]
“Long years ago before they had the smelters, they used to take the gold, and how they would know how it was right or not, with all the sludge was out of it, all of the iron pyrite (that's fools gold), all the fools out of it, they--beaters beat it, and beat it, and turned it, and beat it, and turned it until the beater sees his reflection in the gold. That's the way God does His church. He gives you trial after trial, test after test, trial after trial, test after test, until the life of Christ is reflected in your life, until you become peaceful, sober, meek, gentle, humble, ready, submissive, willing, turn your head from the things of the world and looking straight to Calvary to the One Who's doing the beating. Many times you think it's strange because fiery trials, and sickness, and persecutions; it's only done to test you, to get the dirt out of you, to get the sludge out of you, to get the slowness out of you, to wake you up to the place where you can look and see the reflection--or men can see the reflection of Christ in you: Christ in you, the hope of glory.” [57-0818 Time Tested Memorials Of God, Jeffersonville IN], [James 1:2-3, 12]
“Look. Temptation was for Him. You know that? The Bible said, "He was tempted in all points like we are, yet without sin." He was tempted by--by drinking. He was tempted by women. He was tempted by everything that could be tempted by. He was tempted by everything that we are. He was a Man, and yet you couldn't put a mark on Him. Yes, sir. Overcome means "to recognize the Devil in every one of his tricks." Lot of people says, "There is no Devil. It's just a thought." Don't you believe that. There's a real Devil. He's just as real as you are, anybody. A real Devil, and you must recognize him real. You must know he's a devil. Then, the same time that you--you recognize him, and know that he's a devil and he's against you, then, to overcome, you must recognize that the God in you is greater and mightier than he is, that the One that's in you has already overcome him. And, by His grace, you are more than a match for him. Amen. There's real overcoming, when you recognize.” [63-0825M How Can I Overcome, Jeffersonville IN], [Hebrews 4:15], [Matthew 13:39], [Mark 16:17]
“Can you remember the disciples returning back and rejoicing because they figured that they were counted worthy to stand the reproach of His Name? He said, "All that live godly in Christ shall bear a persecution," the reproach of the Word. 94 You always have to stand this reproach in order to give your testing, to see. Every man that comes to Christ must first be child-trained, for the--for the purpose that God has ordained you for. And remember, if you can just keep quiet! Remember, if He has called you for this, there is nothing that can keep it from happening. There's not enough devils in torment, but what God's Word will be made manifest. You're born for a purpose, and nobody can take your place. You might have impersonators, everything else, but they'll never take your place. Right. God's Word will triumph. It cannot fail. There is where every Christian ought, to stand, knowing that--that. And trials will come up, and seem every way, to you. But remember, God has a purpose, and it all will work right.” [62-1223 The Reproach For The Cause Of The Word, Jeffersonville IN], [Luke 10:17], [II Timothy 3:12]
